|
|
Hello,
I downloaded COD4 Quick Launcher to try to join games with some friends and I'm a little rusty on how to use this. Do I have to find the IP addresses of the games I'd like to join and then plug them in? Thanks. |

Hi,
Thanks for using our little app.
Unfortunately there is no tutorial available, however a brief introduction is here:

You need to manually enter servername and IP. If you don't know the IP you can use the search tool. Alternatively from game-monitor you can press the play button and from there save that server to one of the 10 slots. _________________

Hmmm, I was trying to get servers to load via Game-Monitor.com and when I give it the path to my COD4MW, it gives me these errors:
WIN_IMPROPER_QUIT_BODY I have to click Yes or No, then I get an "Error during initialization: No IWD files found in / Main"
Anyone know why this might happen? My COD4 files aren't in the Steam folder, they're in the Activision folder: C:\Program Files (x86)\Activision\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare
I know if I double click on my iw3mp file in this folder, the game starts fine!? |

Are you able to join from the main list ?
If you haven't deleted it, "HPH Norway" server should be the first server on your list.
I haven't been able to reproduce the bug myself (running Win7 64-bit with or without UAC) _________________

Yes, I can join from the main list with no problem. It's just when I try to join from the website that causes the problem... |

Janni, I did find out what my problem was...the path to my older installation was in the box instead of my new installation which is why it could not find the file. Now however, when I click on a server on the webpage, it opens my COD4 MW but does not connect to the server which was chosen. Is there anything you can think of that I'm missing? The servers work fine if you input the IP addresses... Thanks.

Great that you found out the cause of that problem, good job
To your next issue, is there any specific server that has the problem or all of them ? Is COD4 displaying any message or just main screen ?
Also make sure URL launcher displays the right IP address before you join (where you also can insert password and press the big play button) _________________

Janni,
Sorry it's taken me so long to respond to this tread! (Moving). Anyway, to answer your questions, it happens on all servers and I've never gotten a screen where you can type a password and press the big play button. Also, it appears that Code4QL can't find the IW3.exe file again and I cannot find anywhere in setup to reset this or see where Code4QL is looking for the file? Does Code4QL have to be uninstalled and re-installed to have this option? Thank you... |

Yes try to uninstall and install again. Only thing you will loose is your favourites in QL if you have any.
Please let me know how it goes _________________

| Well, it doesn't seem like I'm getting any closer to fixing my problem and now it appears to be worse! I uninstalled and re-installed cod4quicklauncher and now, it appears that my favorites won't connect anymore. Especially 69.28.220.229 which I was rather fond of. It continually gives me the "server is for low ping players only" error, in fact, on every IP I input now except for the HPG Norway which is default. I never had any problem connecting before. I also right clicked on each of the servers which gives me ping times and the 69.28.220.229 is giving me a 69 ping...doesn't seem too high does it? The HPG Norway gives me a ping over 200 and it connects!? As for trying to connect through the sever webpage, the old IW3.exe appears to be missing again and there appears to be no way to tell cod4quicklauncher where to look... |

Hi again dart451
It doesn't make any sense to me that HPH Norway works and not the others because its just a server like the others (nothing special done)...
Are you using Vista or Win7 with UAC enabled ?
Make sure to give COD4QL admin rights to run.
About the webpage problem...
You could check the config files manually.
Check in your COD4QL installation folder and open in notepad conf.ini
Under path you can double check the correct path to your iw3mp.exe
IF you have UAC enabled you need to check in something like:
C:\Users\dart415\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\COD4 Quick Launcher\conf.ini
Make sure you see hidden files and folders _________________

Hello again,
I'm using Win7(64) and I had my UAC set at Notify me only when programs try to make changes to my computer, not when I make changes. I have since then turned it completely off and it doesn't make any difference. Now even HPH Norway gives me the low ping error. I also started COD4QL using Admin rights...no difference.
On the website now, it doesn't give me the error anymore however, it opens up COD4 but does not connect to the server (any server) through the website.
I looked at the config file and there does not seem to be a path at all...is there a way I might send you a screen capture of mine? |

So it turns out dart451 finally solved the issues by himself. A complete uninstall and re-install of COD4QL solved most of it _________________
